You can earn good money but it is hard to get into. Also you need lots of money and experience to be an airline pilot. My friend sold his house, business and ferrari just to pay for all his flying to work towards his commercial licence.
You might be able to get some sort of sponsorship but lots and lots of others are in a similar position.
With respect mate, what a load of rubbish.
It is hard to become an airline pilot, that much is true.
You need to be able to pay your way through the ATPL schemes, Karan, unless you can get sponsorship. As an Indian citizen you would be well to go and talk to Kingfisher Airlines to see if they have sponsorship. If you pay your own way expect to pay about 60 thousand sterling and quite a bit less in Dollars if you fly in the US. You need to know what licences are valid in India.
As for needing lots of experience to be an airline pilot, well how do you think they start? When I started as an airline pilot i had a years experience on piston multis flying night freight and I plopped straight into the right seat of a Tristar.
Now is a good time to be a commercial pilot and prospects are good.
I wish you well with your venture.
David
