Carlsberg don't resolve airspace infringements, but if they did....

The latest airspace infringement is out on FlyOnTrack, and no, it's not doom and gloom, it's more "how it should be" if there is an accidental infringement. A lot of money, effort and ideas of the past two years or so come together in one incident.

Not wanting to bother anyone for a service or fill the airwaves, the pilot has tuned into Luton Approach 129.550 MHz, not said anything, but is just listening in, and showing the Luton Listening Squawk of '0013' in case Luton wish to contact him for any reason. The pilot has also selected Mode C (ALT) to help the TCAS in commercial traffic and the controllers have an idea of how high he is.

The pilot now climbs too early, not noticing the base of the Luton CTA is 3500' around the Henton NDB . 'CAIT', the new software for spotting infringements, alerts the controller by turning the 'return' to purple on the radar screen as soon as the infringement occurs....

SO ... what happened? Airprox? Court case?, suspended licence?.... errr.. no, nothing like that, it was all sorted out in about 30 seconds with no drama or follow up. Watch for yourself. Go to
www.flyontrack.co.uk and click on the radar head.

Whilst you are on the site, the new 'known airspace restrictions' have been updated as of 22/8/08, (see the 'eyes') and the latest infringements stats to the end of July 2008 are there on the 'Infringer Stats' tab,

ps: I was hoping to release all this above as the launch new FlyOnTrack site, but one or two bugs to do with "IE7" mean the new look can't be unveiled this week, but it won't be long, enjoy the nostaligia with the old look a tiny bit longer.
